5 Easy Steps to a Happy Belly (and a clear head)
“Dysbiosis”-what is that???
When our normal gut bacteria are out of balance we experience dysbiosis. This can lead to “IBS, celiac disease, … allergy, asthma, metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular disease and obesity.” (lots of great info on the gut)
Follow these 5 steps to a healthy and happy belly
1. Increase the Good Bacteria
--Take probiotics and prebiotics daily. Increase the amount of pro- and prebiotics after a cleanse, antibiotic use, illness, or in times of increased stress.
Probiotics (bringing in the good bacteria)
--Eat and drink Kefir, yogurt, sauerkraut, miso soup, cheeses that are aged but not heated or pasturized like Gouda, provolone, Cheddar, Guyere, sour dough bread, and milk with added probiotics.
Prebiotics (food for the good bacteria)
--Eat asparagus, Jerusalem artichokes, bananas, oatmeal, legumes, burdock, chicory, dandelion, leeks, onions, rye, barley, garlic, wheat bran, cabbage, beans, and apples.
2. More water, please.
--Drink lots and lots of water. Good bacteria like a clean environment to move around in so get things moving by drinking more water. Stool should be about 70% water and if you are not drinking enough, it will get sluggish and slow down.
--Drink at least half your weight in ounces of water.
3. Get Rid of the Bad Bacteria
--Cleanse with YL 5 Day Nutritive Cleanse or YL Cleansing Trio. (When doing something like a 5 day cleanse be sure to use the additional supplements found in the kit to replace missing vitamins and minerals. (Caution, avoid strict cleanses if you are immunocompromised or pregnant).
--Juicing with fresh fruits and veggies with added essential oils such as DiGize, Peppermint, Fennel, Wintergreen, Marjoram, Cypress, or Patouchili can be used to help maintain a healthy digestive tract.
4. Reduce Stress
5. Increase Food Quality and Nutrition
--High quality, organic whole foods are best, but any whole food is better than a processed food.
--Reduce the amount of coffee, alcohol, salt, SUGAR!!, dairy and beef.
